I can't really count how many times I have passed by this diner either walking or driving and not once have I ever gone inside. My love and I always talked about eating there but we would always end up going somewhere else, somewhere we were already familiar with. After so many years, we finally went in.
Right as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and were quickly going to be seated, it was a very nice day out so we decided to sit in the patio and enjoy the warm L.A sun. The color scheme and little details of the diner caught my eye. The place has a nice vintage/hipster atmosphere to it, very much like the whole vibe the Sunset Blvd has been portraying lately. I love it.
My love ordered the Krunchy Kale Salad and the Corn Chowder, both tasted so good and very fresh. The menu has something for everybody, it has everything from the classic hamburger, veggie nachos, fish & chips, BBQ chicken salad to a nice bowl of chili with a side of the JalapeƱo cornbread.
Any place I go I will most likely order a sandwich, seriously, ask anyone. As long as the sandwich has grilled chicken and loads of Avocado I am good. The bread was crunchy, the chicken marinated perfectly and their house made ranch just took it to the next level. The only thing about always ordering a big sandwich is that I never finish the other half, I feel bad about leaving it there so I end up taking it home and I usually forget about it (I get nagged about it ALL the time). Hey not all places offer half a sandwich !
The diner is a great little local spot, its one of Echo Parks late diners, they close at 3 AM Thursday thru Saturday. It has been a part of L.A since 1948. I cant believe it took us so long to walk in but I am glad we finally did. Next time I will definitely order something new, give other items on the menu a taste.
If you are ever around the Echo Park area in Los Angeles, stop by !
