My Pregnancy Must-Haves !

I am happy to share that I have been given the blessing of being a mommy and during this magical time in my life I have never felt more beautiful and special. There is something about carrying a child that makes you feel empowered, feminine and extremely happy. As wonderful as pregnancy is, its a time where you have to change almost everything about yourself and your way of living. The way you dress, what you eat, what you put on your body and even how you sleep has to be modified to your specific pregnancy. There is a lot that goes on during pregnancy and in my experience these happen to be my must have items which has made this journey a breeze.

1. Mama Mio "Tummy Rub" Stretch Mark Butter - The moment I found out I was pregnant I quickly went online and ordered the Mama Mio products. I had always heard nothing but great reviews about their products so I knew I had to get my hands on them. The stretch mark butter smells lemony fresh, a very pleasant scent. It's so thick and creamy that you can feel it moisturize your body as you apply it.

2. Mama Mio "Mighty Moisture" Face Moisturizer - As long as I can remember my skin has always been a bit oily. During my pregnancy my skin has given a complete turn, I am extremely dry. My face  dries out quickly and the facial moisturizer I had always used no longer works for me.  I went on a search for something hydrating only to find out that not everything is safe to use during pregnancy. Luckily the Mama Mio products are completely safe to use when you are carrying a baby. It has a light fresh scent and it glides on easily, its non greasy and it does the job. A little bit of product goes a long way. My skin is so happy to have found this !

3. Mama Mio "Tummy Rub" Stretch Mark Oil -  You can never be too cautious when it comes to stretch marks that is why I doubled my anti stretch mark products. The body oil smells the same as the Tummy Rub Butter, fresh and citrusy. This product I apply everywhere !

4. Rainbow Light Certified Organic "Prenatal Multivitamins"- The prenatal vitamins that I was given at my doctors were horrible.  The taste was so unpleasant that I would have such a difficult time taking them and when i did they would upset my stomach. Since taking your prenatal vitamins is extremely important, I knew right away that I had to find an alternative. Luckily I came across these vitamins on one of my trips to Whole Foods. I did my research and found out that they are highly recommended. I now take these without any hesitation. I'm a happy camper.

5. Weleda "Foot Balm"- If you have been carrying a baby for a long time you know that being on your feet is tough. I am already on my last month and this foot balm has been a life saver. At the end of the day my feet are swollen and aching, and the balms cooling feeling feels like heaven. It has a minty scent that makes the applying of the balm relaxing. Even better, my love applies it on my feet every night. I love him.

Comfort is key when it comes to the 9 months you carry your baby, what you wear is extremely important. For me it was all about Jeans and Leggings, with the stretchy bands of course ! Now a days you can find maternity clothes at every store, from high end to the absolute affordable. You can't go wrong since they offer them in every style and color.

The awesome thing about getting a big belly is all the clothes you get to wear, the round shape looks so cute. I love color, so when I went shopping I made sure I got lots of it. Different materials flatter different growing bellies so try on what suits and feels comfortable for you.

As you can see I have beat up my Moccasins, they have been essential during this time. Any comfortable shoe will become your favorite during pregnancy.

Ugg's might not be so stylish, but they sure are comfortable for aching feet.

Need your hot feet to breathe? Air them out by wearing sandals.

If there is one thing out of everything I have mentioned to be an absolute necessity it would have to be pillows ! Pillows and lots of them. Sleeping gets only more challenging the more your belly grows, put a pillow between your legs, on the curve of your back, and one between your arms to hug and you will have a nice, comfy, sleep.

For you pregnant mommies out there, what are your pregnancy must haves?

Healthy Body, Happy Life !

When it comes to procrastinating, Hello ! I am your queen. There is always something I want to do but never really get around to it. Lately, it has been eating healthy and getting in shape. Round is a shape, but that is not the shape I had in mind.  To be honest with you, I HATE working out. I don't like having to get off my butt while I'm watching Greys Anatomy to go run and workout. I always come up with an excuse on why I can't go.

Every time I tell myself I'm going to start eating healthy and exercising, I'm 2 days in and then it's over. Its like a relationship that never works.

I would love to be able to go into it 100 percent and actually make a change for a healthier better me. Its difficulty but I know its possible.

I went to run about 2 days ago and my body just gave up. i felt nauseous, light headed and out of breath. Because of this I know that I need to get myself checked with my doctor. I feel like my body is slowing down on me , I feel lazier and I catch myself getting tired easily. This isn't the way I want to keep living my life.

About 5 years ago, I found out I had a stomach ulcer. This changed my life in a big way. For those of you who don't know; A peptic ulcer is basically an open painful wound that you get in between your breast bone and your bellybutton. Bacteria enters your body in a way, resulting in acid thinning your stomach lining which then leads to the painful sores that form inside. It becomes burning pain, makes me feel nauseous , a lot of chest pain and it gets harder to eat . but it only goes away by eating by making the acid go back down.
Its so weird.

This is one of the main reasons why I need to change what goes into my body, the pain sucks.
At 162lbs, it's the most I have ever weighed and I never thought I would let myself get to this point.  Now there isn't anything else to do than just go for it. ! Be healthy, no more ulcer, feel better about myself and even have a better attitude. How nice would it be to go to the beach and not feel awkward all covered up?

Before i start anything though, I need to go get a physical to tell me where I'm at. I feel like this way I will be able to pay more attention to specific things that are being a problem with my body right now. Until then, I will be eating as healthy as possible until my physical so I can really start kicking butt. For now , taking walks and jogs around the park

I want to try and get a workout schedule started, 3 or 4 times a week. On the side, eat green and eat completely healthy. I usually like to go run at the Silver Lake reservoir, a lap is 2.2 miles and its a beautiful place to go run. Set a playlist on my iPod with my favorite work out music and run. After I run, I feel so good and I feel like I can go out and do anything. It's so refreshing.

My goal weight? to be honest. Nothing specific. I just want to be in good health and wear my clothes and feel amazing in it.  I will start on my journey very soon, and if ANY of you want to join me, I will be keeping the blog posted with my progress and with things like my grocery hauls, work outs and pictures :]

A Little Place In L.A

I can't really count how many times I have passed by this diner either walking or driving and not once have I ever gone inside. My love and I always talked about eating there but we would always end up going somewhere else, somewhere we were already familiar with. After so many years, we finally went in.

Right as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and were quickly going to be seated, it was a very nice day out so we decided to sit in the patio and enjoy the warm L.A sun. The color scheme and little details of the diner caught my eye. The place has a nice vintage/hipster atmosphere to it, very much like the whole vibe the Sunset Blvd has been portraying lately. I love it.

My love ordered the Krunchy Kale Salad and the Corn Chowder, both tasted so good and very fresh. The menu has something for everybody, it has everything from the classic hamburger, veggie nachos, fish & chips, BBQ chicken salad to a nice bowl of chili with a side of the JalapeƱo cornbread.

Any place I go I will most likely order a sandwich, seriously, ask anyone. As long as the sandwich has grilled chicken and loads of Avocado I am good.  The bread was crunchy, the chicken marinated perfectly and their house made ranch just took it to the next level.  The only thing about always ordering a big sandwich is that I never finish the other half, I feel bad about leaving it there so I end up taking it home and I usually forget about it (I get nagged about it ALL the time). Hey not all places offer half a sandwich !

The diner is a great little local spot, its one of Echo Parks late diners, they close at 3 AM Thursday thru Saturday. It has been a part of L.A since 1948. I cant believe it took us so long to walk in but I am glad we finally did. Next time I will definitely order something new, give other items on the menu a taste.

If you are ever around the Echo Park area in Los Angeles, stop by !
